Molecular Mechanisms of Adaptive Evolution in Extremophiles and Their Applications

Microorganisms thrive in diverse environments on Earth, yet some regions remain uninhabitable due to extreme physical and chemical conditions, forming the "abiotic sphere." At the boundary between the biosphere and abiotic sphere, extreme environments impose strong selective pressures on microorganisms, driving adaptive evolution.

Our research explores these environments to uncover microbial survival strategies, evolutionary principles, and molecular mechanisms. We aim to clarify the essence of adaptive evolution, utilize extremophilic microorganisms as genetic resources, and develop technologies inspired by their adaptation mechanisms.
